The bespoke quilts I create for my clients either start with a specific need in terms of size and colour, or the desire to integrate a precious piece of fabric in a heirloom quilt for display or every day use. Some projects are built around pieces of material from children clothes or the wardrobe of a loved one who passed away. These memory quilts constitute an invaluable memento that can be passed from one generation to the next. You can see here the quilt made with Marie Lenclos' late mother's clothes or a bespoke wedding quilt. When designing a quilt for a client, I take into account the style and colour of the room it is destined for as well as the use it is going to get, but also small details like the placement of the patchwork or the amount of extra width and length needed for the quilt to be tucked neatly at the end of a sofa or a bed. |
